On this day in baseball history, the 11th of June, the following noteworthy events occurred.

Philadelphia Athletics field a team that consists of seven future Hall of Famers:

On this day in 1927, not for an entire game but only one inning, the Philadelphia Athletics had seven players in the lineup that would one day make it into the Hall of Fame. Eddie Collins was at Second Base, Zack Wheat was in Left Field, Ty Cobb was in Right Field, Al Simmons was in Center Field, Jimmie Foxx was at First Base, Lefty Grove came in and pitched for an inning, and then Mickey Cochrane came into Pinch Hit for Cy Perkins. Another guy who orchestrated all those moves for the eighth inning was Hall of Fame manager Connie Mack.

Mel Stottlemyre makes 272nd consecutive Start:

On this day in 1974, the Yankees took on the California Angels in New York. For the Yankees, Mel Stottlemyer took the mound for an A.L. record 272nd consecutive time. Over his career, Stottlemyer proved to be a pitcher who could fight through many innings, making his scheduled Start no questions asked. Unfortunately, he’d only last three innings that day, allowing 6 Hits, 2 Walks, and Four Runs. That year would also be his final season, blowing out his rotator cuff, ending his career.

Nolan Ryan throws his 6th career No-Hitter:

On this day in 1990, the Texas Rangers took on the defending World Champion Oakland Athletics in Oakland. Nolan Ryan took the mound, and well, he was 43 years old, but his arm was ageless. That night he threw 130 pitches, striking out 14 batters, only walking two batters, giving him his sixth career No- Hitter. Nolan Ryan became the first pitcher to throw no-hitters for three different teams in three different decades, and he became the oldest pitcher ever to throw a no-hitter.
