On this day in baseball history, the 26th of June, the following noteworthy events occurred.

Kirby Puckett becomes all-time Twins Hit leader:

On this day in 1994, the Twins took on the Kansas City Royals in Minneapolis. Entering the game, Kirby Puckett had 2,085 career Hits, all with the Twins, tied with Rod Carew for the most in a Twins uniform. In the first inning, Puckett took a pitch over the Centerfield wall for a two-run home run, making him the new Twins all-time Hit leader.

“Rodney was definitely an idol of mine,” Puckett said. “He taught me a lot about hitting. He was a first baseman for the Angels when I came up, and I talked to him every chance I could about hitting.” -Kirby Puckett

Tony Gwynn with an Inside-the-park Grand Slam:

On this day in 1997, in the seventh inning of a game against the Dodgers at Dodgers stadium, Tony Gwynn, with the bases loaded, hit a line drive to Left Field, and Brett Butler missed it while trying to make a diving catch. The ball went all the way to the Left Field wall as Roger Cedeno hustled to get the ball; Gwynn and all the other guys on base made it safely to home plate.
