Sandy Koufax Throws First Career No-Hitter:

On this day in 1962, the Los Angeles Dodgers sent Sandy Koufax to the mound for a night game against the New York Mets, the worst team in baseball that year. At 26, Koufax was finally starting to enter the prime of his career after years of ups and downs. That day Koufax took advantage of facing a terrible expansion team, striking out 13 batters while only walking five as he allowed no hits for his first career No-Hitter.
Willie McCovey slugs 500th career HR:

On this date in 1978, the Giants took on the Atlanta Braves at Atlanta Fulton County Stadium for a Doubleheader. In Game 1, Willie McCovey, in search of his 500th career home run, was batting in the 4th spot. In the top of the second inning, with no one out, McCovey took a pitch from Jamie Easterly into the seats for his 500th career Home Run.
Eddie Murray records 3,000th Hit:

On this date in 1995, Eddie Murray and the Indians were taking on the Minnesota Twins, and their DH Eddie Murray was searching for his 3,000th career Hit. In the sixth inning, Albert Belle led off with a Double. With Murray up at the plate, he took the 0-1 pitch from Mike Trombley between second and first base for hit #3000.
