Happy Birthday to the late and great Edd Roush, one of the many all-time great Hall of Fame Centerfielders. From 1913-1931, he played for five teams, but most of his career, including his prime years, took place with the Cincinnati Reds.

Career Statistics (1913-1931):

.323 BA, 2,376 HITS, 68 HR, 981 RBI, .369 OBP, 1099 RUNS

  • 2x Batting Champion
  • 1919 World Series Champion (Reds)

It took until 1916 when he was traded to the Reds and finally got a full-time playing opportunity. For the next eleven seasons consecutively, he never hit lower than .304. While he never stole a crap ton of bases in his career, he was a great baserunner, averaging 15 Triples a season in his career, along with 30 career inside-the-park home runs. At the plate, along with his lifetime .323 average and two batting titles, Roush never once struck out more than 25 times in a season. Before the “Big Red Machine Era,” many regarded him as the best player in franchise history. At the time of his death in 1988, he was the last surviving member of the 1919 World Series.
